Is a Medical Degree from Russia or Georgia Recognized in India?

Yes — provided the university is listed with the National Medical Commission (NMC) and recognised by the World Health Organization (WHO), a medical degree earned there is recognised in India, subject to clearing the FMGE/NEXT licensing screening test.

The verification step matters more than most students realise. Every university we work with is checked against NMC's official list before we recommend it — we share the direct listing reference with every family during counselling, not just a verbal assurance.

Recognition, however, is not the same as automatic licensing. Every foreign medical graduate, regardless of country, must clear India's screening exam before practising — this applies equally to graduates from Russia, Georgia, or any other country.

Be cautious of any university or consultant that can't produce clear, current recognition documentation, or that quotes unusually low fees without transparent registration numbers. This is precisely the due diligence that protects your six years of study.
