NEET Cutoff vs MBBS Abroad: What Score Do You Actually Need?

Every year, thousands of NEET-qualified students narrowly miss a government MBBS seat in India — not because they aren't capable, but because seat numbers simply haven't kept pace with the number of qualifying candidates.

For MBBS abroad in Russia or Georgia, the requirement isn't a competitive rank — it's simply a valid NEET qualifying score, alongside 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (40% for reserved categories) and a minimum age of 17 by December 31 of your admission year.

This is the single biggest misconception families have: that studying MBBS abroad is a 'backup' requiring less merit. In reality, it's a different pathway entirely — one based on direct university admission rather than a centralised, rank-based seat allotment.

What actually matters more than your exact NEET percentile is choosing a university with genuine NMC and WHO approval, transparent fees, and a track record of graduates clearing India's licensing exam. That due diligence matters far more than chasing a marginally higher score.
